| Not all that starts poorly ends poorly. We reached Glenwood Springs in good time Thursday night, only to discover a pool of oil under the car after refueling. Hmmmm. We decided to grab a hotel and some mexican food for the night and get a mechanic's opinion in the morning. Happily we found ourselves at the Silver Spruce Motel for the night and Dos Hombres for dinner. The morning brought a diagnosis of a leaking rear seal -- supposedly the oil was engine oil. We bought a case of oil and a fire extinguisher and headed west towards Moab. We were happy to be back on the road, but the incident did up the ante a bit. Until this point I'd (Mike) been saying "Hey, what's the worst that could happen? If we get to Moab and the weather's bad we'll just eat mexican food, have a beer and hang out." After the mechanic mentioned the (remote) possibility of an oil-leak-induced fire, I had to upgrade the worst case scenario to "Our car could catch fire and burn up with all our gear, including our bikes!"
