(Scroll right) This is Back of Behind! Steve and Terry with the La Sals in the background. The La Sals were shrouded in clouds much of the day, and from some conversations we had in town it sounded like this was their normal state this winter. Something in the neighborhood of four feet of snow had already fallen in the La Sals by our trip in December. The road was a little soft for much of the ride, not muddy for the most part but we rarely had that good firm feeling of free-rolling speed. (Or maybe that was our mid-winter form?) We also faced a chill headwind for much of the time we rode across the exposed stretches of desert. Nothing horrific, but again a little extra resistance to our progress. Still, a beautiful and unusual time to be out Back of Behind.
