Dawn the first morning presented this view out the window of my Ford Escort up Mill Canyon to DeterminationTowers. After having no luck the night before finding a camp spot at King's Bottom I decided to camp on the BLM land near the Monitor and Merrimac trail. The dirt road / Monitor and Merrimac trail can be seen going over a hill near the left-center of this picture.

I pulled off about a quarter mile before the Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail and tossed my bivy sack, thermarest and sleeping bag out onto the ground. There was little moonlight and it was late. I was content to climb into the sleeping bag in a familiar place and didn't miss the luxury of a tent at all. At least until the next morning...
