![]() ![]() ![]() Day 1: Top of Horsethief Pass Mike P, Henry, Mike G (me), Terry and Steve G getting ready to descend through Horsethief Pass to the Green River. Horsethief is kind of a "mini Shafer Canyon" with steep, tight switchbacks and a lot of elevation loss (in our direction). It's not as long, though, even when climbing. We know about the climbing part because after driving the sag wagon to the bottom, Steve C hopped out, climbed the switchbacks and met us at the top. That was actually the first time he climbed up. Once we reached the bottom Steve convinced several others to join him in a second climb back to the top. Of course anyone who knows Steve will recognize that he "barely made it," "was sucking wind," "went slower than any of you guys would have," "felt like he was going to throw up," and a number of other self-deprecating comments that we've come to know and love from Steve. As usual, none of them true. ![]()
