Day4: Airport Camp

And then there were four. Terry, Mike P, Henry and me (behind the camera). It turns out that the two Steves had enough cold and wind for one trip after day 3. The night at Murphy Camp had been pretty windy and cold, and it looked like day 3 was going to be more of the same. When they decided not to ride out to White Crack, it was the first in a series of steps that led them to the final decision to ride all the way out on day 3. We found a note from them near a restroom saying that they were pushing on to the visitor's center. Turns out that the remaining vehicle belonged to Steve G and he had his keys on him. So, the remaining four re-grouped at the Airport Camp and prepared for the final day.

As it turned out, day 3 wasn't nearly as bad as we'd anticipated. The wind eased and even got behind us from time to time. Airport Camp was definitely not the gem that Labyrinth and Murphy had been, but we made do. Warm food and lots of hot chocolate kept things pretty pleasant. The only side trip on day 4 was a little drop down Lathrop Canyon to the Colorado River, and it was early in the day.
