Black Lake October 2001
On one of the last sunny, snow-free hiking days of the fall Mark and Mike headed for Black Lake and beyond. As it turned out we managed to hike to all of the major lakes on the plateau above Black Lake except Blue Lake (although we got a picture of it from the base of the Spearhead). The weather was unbelievably cooperative and we saw only two other trekers after 9:30 a.m. (and no one after 11:30 a.m.). The day was about 13 miles and we were out from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., stopping to enjoy the surroundings and take a lot of pictures along the way. Hope you enjoy this record of the trip at least a fraction as much as we enjoyed being out there!
