Lockhart Basin

Sun's going down and we're going up. The climb to Hurrah Pass started out looking sketchy. The road degraded to a rocky double track and started up the fall line pretty aggressively. Steve maintained there must be a tunnel just around the next corner, but no such feature ever materialized.

Once up on the rock, however, the trail surface improved dramatically. The road followed a remarkably uniform shelf all the way to the top, and was practically swept clean. In addition to the improving trail conditions we also benefited from Steve's rendition of Dr. Seus' The Sleep book. At least that's what I think it was. Steve was well, in his Own World at this point and got a little put out with me when I questioned him on the words to his song. 'Sleep! Sleep!' exclaimed Steve. Ok, ok--sleep it is. :-)
