Terry, Steve and Mike at the Pritchett Canyon trailhead, aka Back of Behind trailtail. I'd ridden up Pritchett Canyon in the spring and again, my memory had flattened it out and sped it up. It would be amazing to watch a 4x4 work through some of the obstacles in the canyon. We had our hands full with just two wheels and gravity (more or less) on our side. Steve managed to draw blood in the canyon, courtesy of a tree that didn't want to let him pass without a friendly grab on the elbow. Otherwise we bounced, skidded and rolled our way to the bottom and the paved path back to town (Kane Creek road). Being road pups, Steve and Terry couldn't just roll calmly into town. The paceline formed up and...the gut/leg check lasted until we turned the corner and emerged from the portal next to the Colorado. Sheesh. Time for more Mexican food at La Hacienda!

After another fine meal at La Hacienda and a good night's rest at the Big Horn Lodge we left Moab and headed east back into Colorado. On many Moab trips we'd considered stopping in Glenwood Canyon to hike up to Hanging Lake. But, an object in motion...tends to stay in motion and we always blasted by in favor of getting home earlier. This trip was going to be different....
